Recovering Internet Explorer

Issue/Question

Internet Explorer is no longer listed or launching on my computer.

Environment

• Windows 8.1+

Cause

Upgrading Windows 8 to a newer version of Windows can cause an issue where Internet Explorer will no longer launch.

Resolution

1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Type ie4uinit.exe -UserIconConfig and press Enter.
3. Internet Explorer should now be recovered.
