Deepfreeze Displaying on Library Computer Logon Screen

Issue/Question

The computer's mouse and keyboard are not responding and I have a Deepfreeze window on top of the Windows logon screen.

Environment

  • WKU-owned computer managed by Library Systems Office

Cause

Deepfreeze is a program that restores the computer's operating system back to default settings once the computer restarts. Several Libraries computers are managed in a way where Deepfreeze will execute commands during night hours to update Windows and/or other components. Sometimes, the update will not process correctly and cause the machine to be stuck at the logon screen with the mouse and keyboard disabled. There will usually be a message to contact the Library Systems Office.

Resolution

Contact the Library Systems Office by submitting an online request here.
