How do I add a network printer to my computer?

For Ricoh Managed Printers

For Other Printers

  1. Click (Apple System Menu button).
  2. Click System Preferences.
  3. Click  Printers & Scanners.
  4. Click (Add a printer, fax, or scanner).
  5. Enter the call-letters for your building in the  Search field.
  6. Locate and click your area's printer.
  7. In the Use drop-down menu, click Select Software... .
  8. Search for your area's printer by model number.
     Note: If the model is not listed, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
  9. Click the corresponding driver and click OK.
  10. Click Add.
  11. Click Options & Supplies... .
  12. Click Options.
  13. Enable the add-ons your area has opted for.
     Note: If you are uncertain of the model numbers, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
  14. Click OK.

Alternative Method

Note: If your area's networked printer cannot be located using the above methods, it may be necessary to add it using the printer's hostname or IP address. please contact the ITS Service Desk if you need assistance determining the hostname/IP address.

  1. Click (Apple System Menu button).
  2. Click System Preferences.
  3. Click  Printers & Scanners.
  4. Click (Add a printer, fax, or scanner).
  5. Click  IP.
  6. Enter the hostname or IP address in the Address field.
  7. In the Protocol drop-down menu, select Line Printer Daemon - LPD.
  8. Customize the Name and Location fields as desired.
  9. In the Use field, a driver should automatically load. If not, select Generic PostScript Printer.
  10. Click Add.
