Resolving Outlook Sync Issues

Issue/Question

I am not receiving new emails in Outlook. I am able to access Outlook Web Access and it shows new emails that are not in Outlook on my computer.

Environment

  • Windows 7+
    • Outlook 2016

Cause

If Outlook has lost connection to the Exchange server, it may be in offline mode or your account settings may need to be repaired.

Resolution

  1. Restart Outlook. Check to see if the account is syncing properly. If it is not, continue with the steps below.
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Click Send/Receive tab.
  4. Click the Work Offline button if it's toggled on. Check to see if the account is syncing properly. If it is not, continue with the steps below.
  5. Close Outlook.
  6. Click  Start.
  7. Click Control Panel.
  8. Search Mail.
  9. Select Mail (32-bit).
  10. Click E-mail Accounts...
  11. Select your WKU account.
  12. Click Repair...
  13. Click Next.
  14. After the repair completes, click Finish.
  15. Open Outlook.
  16. Check to see if the account is syncing properly. If it is not, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
