Resolution

First, make sure your default browser is set to your preferred browser.

  1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Apps and Features.
  2. On the left, select Default Apps.
  3. Under Web Browser, select your preferred browser. WKU ITS recommends either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Next, make sure your HTTP protocols are correctly set to this same browser.

  1. At the bottom of the page, select Choose default apps by protocol.
  2. Scroll down and verify that both HTTP and HTTPS match your preferred default browser.

Lastly, make sure that the Windows registry has the correct setting for .html.

  1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Run.
  2. In the Run field, type regedit and hit ENTER.
  3. Expand HKEY_CLASSES-ROOT.
  4. Scroll down and click on .html.
  5.  Double-click on Default.
  6. In the Value data field, type htmlfile and click OK.
  7. Exit and save changes.
