Installing and Using the Zoom Outlook Plugin


How do I use and install the Zoom Outlook Plugin?

Starting in June 2020, Microsoft will be blocking injection-based plugins from running in Outlook for macOS, and will only be allowing add-ins available through the Microsoft store. WKU ITS recommends macOS users needing to schedule Zoom meetings through Outlook do so by logging in via the Outlook Web Application and utilizing the OWA Zoom Add-In.

To Download the plugin:

  1. Download the Zoom Microsoft Outlook Plugin MSI file from the Zoom Download Center.
  2. Once the download is complete, run the MSI file and follow the install wizard to complete the installation.
  3. Once the installation is complete open Outlook. You should see the plugin in the Home ribbon at the top.

To schedule a meeting using the Zoom Outlook Plugin:

  1. In the Home ribbon, click Schedule a Meeting. A new message window should appear along with a meeting settings window.
  2. Select the options you would like the meeting to have, such as if you want participants to start with video on or off by default. Clicking Advanced Options and selecting Join Before Host is recommended. When you are finished click continue.
  3. The plugin will automatically create a link to the meeting in the body of the email. In the top ribbon of the email select the time and date for the meeting and enter in any participants you wish to send the link to.
  4. When you are finished click send to schedule your meeting and send the information to your participants.
