Issue/Question
Under the Accessibility Final Checks I receive the Potential Problem: Image Alt text may be too long.
Environment
Cause
Potential problems are either code that may cause errors or possible errors that cannot be automatically checked and require human review.
Omni CMS Final Checks look over all the code on a page and detect accessibility issues that do not meet WCAG 2.0 (Level AA) standards. It has detected that the page possibly contains an image on your page with alternative or alt text that is too long. Long alt text can provide a negative user experience for accessibly technology.
Resolution
Image alt descriptions should be less than approximately 125 characters while remaining as descriptive as possible. If your image accurately describes the image in a concise length this page check can be disregarded.
- Check out the page if it is not already.
- Click the Edit tab.
- Click the Edit Button on the content area where the image identified in the source code section of the error is located.
- Edit the Image and shorten the alternative text.
- Save the page.
- Click the Publish button to run the accessibility final check again. When the issue has been resolved it will no longer display in the accessibility check.
