Windows XP End of Life

Issue/Question

I am on a computer running Windows XP and cannot access the internet.

Environment

  • Windows XP

Cause

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. As such, Windows XP computers do not have network access, in order to prevent malicious attacks.

Resolution

In order to have network access, a newer operating system, such as Windows 7 or Windows 8, will be needed. A computer running Windows XP may be upgrade-able to one of these operating systems. To determine if such is the case, the machine can be inspected by TopperTech (for student-owned machines) or Desktop Support (for WKU-owned computers).
