Installing SAS

How do I install SAS from the WKU Software Center?

Note: SAS is a very large program to install. We highly recommend the computer to be directly connected to wired network and not using wireless connection.

  1. Go to the WKU Software Center.
  2. If you are getting SAS for University owned machine, click University. For personal machine, click Personal.
  3. Click SAS 9.4.
  4. Click Add to Cart.
  5. Click on the View Full Cart button.
  6. Click Check Out.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Next.
Note: Faculty and Staff members will need to enter an Inventory Control Number if on a WKU-owned machine before clicking Next. If on a personally-owned machine, please enter Home Use.
  9. Proceed With Order.
  10. Click Download.
Note: If you have problems getting the download to start or save, please use this link as an alternate download. You will need a program to extract the files from this download, such as 7-Zip, which is a free software. If you do not have 7-Zip, please download and install the software before continuing. Extract these files to a location you can easily find; this process may take some time to complete as SAS is a large program. Once downloaded and extracted, open the folder containing the extracted files and select the setup.exe file and continue starting with step 18
  11. Download and install the Secure Download Manager (SDM).
  12. Download the .SDX file.
  13. Open the .SDX file you just downloaded with the SMD if it does not open automatically.
  14. Once this is complete, there should be a screen that pops up showing Order Summary and Download Your Software.
  15. Download both SAS 9.4 Executable and SAS 9.4 Compressed.
  16. Click Launch on the SAS 9.4 Workstation for Windows.
  17. Once both are completely downloaded, click Launch under SAS 9.4 Executable.
Note:  It will take a while to unzip all the files as SAS is a very large program.
  18. Once complete, you will be given a Choose Language window; select English
  19. Click OK.
