Installing SAS & Renewing SAS Licenses


How do I install SAS or renew a license from the WKU Software Center?


 Note: SAS is a very large program to install. We highly recommend the computer to be directly connected to wired network and not using wireless connection.

  1. Go to the WKU Software Center.
  2. If you are getting SAS for University owned machine, click University. For personal machine, click Personal.
  3. Click SAS 9.4.
  4. Click Add to Cart.
  5. Click on the View Full Cart button.
  6. Click Check Out.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Next.
     Note: Faculty and Staff members will need to enter an Inventory Control Number if on a WKU-owned machine before clicking Next. If on a personally-owned machine, please enter Home Use.
  9. Click Download.
  10. If you need to download the full installation package, click SAS 9.4 (2021) Full Install. If you need to update the license file only, click SAS 9.4 (2021) SID Only

Please click an install option below for full details. 

  1. Click the download for the full install
    Note: This will take a while to download all of the zipped files. 
  2. Double Click on the downloaded file to extract it. 
    Note: This will take some time to complete as SAS is a very large program. 
    Note: You may need a program to extract all the files from this download, such as 7-Zip, which is a free software. If you do not have 7-Zip, please download and install this software before continuing. 
  3. Extract these files to a location you can easily find. 
  4. Once extracted, open the folder containing the files and double click the setup.exe file to run it. 
  5. You should see the Choose Language window; select your preferred language
  6. Click OK
  7. By default Install SAS software is selected; click Next
  8. Leave the default location to install SAS Home as C:\Program files\SASHome
  9. Click Next
  10. Make sure Perform a Planned Deployment is selected and Install SAS Software is checked. 
  11. Uncheck Configure SAS Software
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Select a standard deployment plan and choose Education Analytical Suite
  14. Click Next
  15. Choose Server and Middle Tier for products you want to install on this machine. 
  16. Click Next
  17. Click default 64-bit Native Mode. 
  18. Click Next
  19. The SAS installation data file should already be configured with a predetermined Expiration Date
  20. Click Next
  21. Choose to Select All Languages or Clear All to only select English. 
  22. Click Next
  23. Click Next to leave default Regional Settings
  24. Click Next to leave default Host Name and Port Number
  25. Click Next to leave default Port number and security preferences
  26. Allow time for SAS to check system requirements. 
  27. Click Next
  28. Click Start to begin the installation process. 
    Note: It may take 30 to 90 minutes to complete this process. 
  29. Click Next
  30. Click Finish
  1. Download the SAS SID only
  2. Click Start
  3. Select All Programs
  4. Select SAS
  5. Select Utilities
  6. Right-click Renew SAS Software and select Run As Administrator
    Note: If a user Access Control dialog box appears, click Allow
  7. Browse to the attached license file you downloaded earlier. 
  8. Click Next
  9. Click the Renew button.
