Running a Scan (Windows)

Issue/Question

I got a message from Symantec that a file was quarantined, how do I make sure my computer does not have a virus?

Environment

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8

Resolution

Windows

  1. Right click the Shield Icon on the taskbar.
  2. Click Open Symantec Endpoint Protection.
  3. Click Scan for Threats.
  4. Click either Run Active Scan or Run Full Scan*.

Note: The Active Scan is a short scan that scans the most commonly infected areas. The Full Scan scans the entire computer and takes longer, but will run in the background; however, it might cause the computer to run slower.
