How do I change the default program that opens a certain kind of file on my Mac?

Environment

  • macOS

Resolution

  1. Right-Click (Control-Click on some Macs) on the file in question.
  2. Select Get Info.
  3. Expand the Open With menu.
  4. Select the program that you would like to open this file type.
  5. Click Change All...
  6. Close the Info window.
