Resolving Editing Permissions Error

Issue/Question

When opening an Microsoft 365 application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), I am unable to edit or create any documents, and I receive this error:

Your account doesn't allow editing...

Environment

• Microsoft 365

Cause

A Microsoft 365 license has not been provisioned for your account.

Resolution

1. Navigate to the Eligibility Site: https://office.com/getoffice365
2. Click Find out if you're eligible.
3. Enter your WKU email address.
4. Click Sign up.
5. Click Continue.
6. Enter your WKU email address and password.
7. Click Sign in.
8. Click OK, got it.
9. Once you are on the install page, your Microsoft 365 license was issued.
10. Navigate back to your Microsoft 365 application.
11. Select the option to use another account.
12. Log in with your WKU email address and password.
