How can I add a Windows printer using a specific driver provided on the manufacturer's website or on an installation CD?
Environment
Resolution
- Click Start.
- Click Devices and Printers.
- Click Add Printer.
- Click Add a local printer.
- Choose the correct printer port. If adding a network printer by IP address or hostname, it may be necessary to create a new TCP/IP port.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Click Browse and find the driver .inf file in the package downloaded from the website or the installation disk.
- Click OK.
- Click Open.
- Click OK.
- Choose the correct driver, as the file you selected may contain drivers for multiple printer models.
- Click Next.
- Name the printer as desired, then click Next.
- Choose Do not share this printer, then click Next.
- Print a Test Page to verify the installation was successful, then click Finish.
