Typefaces Do Not Display As Expected

Summary

Information about why typefaces and documents do not display as expected when the file is moved to another computer.

Body

Issue/Question

When I open a document or slideshow on another computer the typefaces (fonts) do not display as expected and create sizing issues.

Environment

  • Microsoft Office

Cause

The file may have been created using a font that is not installed on the other computer.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, you may either install the correct font onto the desired computer, change the font to one that is installed, or convert the document to a PDF file on the original computer.

Note: Serif and Sans-Serif are not specific typefaces; these are terms that describe different classes of typeface. Manually entering these into the Font name area in Microsoft Office will cause the default system fonts to be used.
