Default to Edit Mode Instead of Reading View

Instructions for allowing Word documents to be edited immediately upon opening directly from Outlook 2016.

How do I open Word documents attached in an email in Edit Mode instead of Reading View?

Environment

• Microsoft Outlook 2016
  • Microsoft Word 2016

Resolution

1. Launch Microsoft Word 2016.
2. Click File.
3. Click Options.
4. Select General.
5. Uncheck Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.
6. Click OK.
