Changing Download Location

Issue/Question

When clicking on files online, Firefox displays a box asking for me to save the file instead of just view it. How do I change where it downloads the file?

• Mozilla Firefox

Cause

Some websites are configured to force the downloading of a file rather than just displaying it within the web browser. When this happens, you must save the file to your computer before it can be opened.

Resolution

Configuring Firefox to automatically save the files to a particular location will bypass the Save dialog box.

1. Click the  Menu button.
2. Click  Options.
3. Click the General tab.
4. In the Downloads section, select the radio button next to Save files to.
5. Click Browse to choose the desired location to save the files.
