Issue/Question
How do you create a hyperlinked file in Outlook?
Cause
The user who is being sent the email needs to be able to simply click on the hyperlink and the file will automatically open.
Resolution
Note: This will only work for a file that the recipient of the email already has access to, such as a file on the WKU Shared Drives.
- Open Outlook and compose a new message.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the file that needs to part of the hyperlink, but do not open the file.
- Click and drag the file into the email message using the right mouse button.
- Outlook will ask if you want to Copy, Move or Create Hyperlink when you drop the file into the email body.
- Choose Create Hyperlink and the link will automatically be added to your email.
