Windows Updates Failing to Install

Issue/Question

Windows tries to install updates but always fails.

Cause

Updates can fail for a variety of reasons, e.g. the downloaded update file is corrupt, a newer update has already installed, making the attempted update obsolete, or an infection is preventing the update from succeeding.

Resolution

1. Download the Windows Update Troubleshooter.
2. Open the program when the download completes.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Click  Run as Administrator.
5. The program will relaunch.
6. Click Next.
7. Follow the steps in the wizard to find and fix problems with Windows Update.
