Checkboxes Not Displaying

Instructions for showing checkboxes in a Word document where text is in their place.

Issue/Question

When viewing a Word document, I cannot see any checkboxes. In their place is bracketed text (e.g., {FORMCHECKBOX}).  

Environment

• Microsoft Office
  • Word 2016+

Resolution

1. Click File.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Under Show Document Content, uncheck Show Field Codes Intead Of Their Values.
5. Click OK.
