Windows Update Schedule for WKU ITS-Managed Devices

Issue/Question

When will my Windows computer be updated?

Environment

• WKU-Owned Windows Device

Resolution

You do not have to take action, updates are applied automatically as follows.

Microsoft generally releases Windows updates the second Tuesday of each month.

• WKU ITS immediately applies updates to machines used by TSS employees.
• If TSS experiences no issues within three days, updates distributed to student worker computers across campus.
• If no issues are reported after another four days (7 days total after initial release), updates delivered to all managed devices.

If an update requires a computer restart, it will occur automatically between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM on Friday.  To avoid a restart, please make sure your windows computer is fully updated before Friday at midnight.
