Body

Issue/Question

How do I enable Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication on a form and populate fields based on the user logged in?

Environment

  • Formstack Suite platform (currently focusing on Forms module)

Resolution

  1. When creating a new form, decide if you need SSO authentication:
    • To enable SSO on form creation, make sure to enable Field Prefill and the value to SSO Prefill Mappings.
    • If you do not want SSO for the form, disable Field Prefill.
  2. Alternatively, to enable SSO after form creation:
    1. Open form and go to Settings tab.
    2. Navigate to Security in the left navigation menu.
    3. Change Form Password setting to Single Sign-On (SSO).
  3. To populate form fields with user data from SSO, add fields to your form by dragging the following saved fields onto the form:
    • SSO-FirstName – First Name
    • SSO-LastName – Last Name
    • SSO-Email – Email Address
    • SSO-WKUID – WKU ID
    • SSO-Title – Title
    • SSO-Department – Department
  4. Save and publish your form.
  5. Test form by accessing it; users will be prompted to authenticate via SSO if enabled, and any mapped SSO fields will prefill automatically if used.
