How do I add a smart list to a form?

Environment

  • Formstack Suite platform (currently focusing on Forms module)

Cause

A smart list is a singular place to manage all of your data. When you link a field to a smart list, any updates made to that smart list will automatically populate on the form. Available smart lists include campus-specific lists such as WKU Campuses, Academic Colleges, Campus Buildings, and Campus Housing.

Resolution

  1. Sign into Formstack using your WKU Account.
  2. Open form you want to edit.
  3. Navigate to form builder where you add or edit form elements.
  4. Locate field where you want to add a smart list or add a new field.
  5. In the field-specific settings panel on the left of the screen, select the option to Link to a Smart list.
  6. Choose from the available smart list.
  7. If you want to customize a list for a specific form only, use the Create Custom List radio button instead and select an existing smart list as the starting point to avoid recreating the entire list.
  8. Save the form after adding or adjusting the smart list.

Please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request by clicking the Request Service button if you have a request to modify campus-wide smart lists or if you have a large list of items that will be used on multiple forms and would like to be a smart list, please attach a CSV file. Smart lists can be restricted to specific users as well.
