I may be the victim of internet crime that involved a WKU email account, mailing list, chat room, or computer.
Resolution
If you receive an email message that appears suspicious or appears to be a scam, you may forward the message to our IT Security team at spam@wku.edu. Unexpected messages that request your personal information or username and password likely phishing scams, and you may report the messages to our IT Security team at phish@wku.edu. Our IT Security team uses the messages forwarded to us to improve our filtering techniques and increase public awareness, however, we're unable to personally respond to every report. Our IT Security team is not a law-enforcement agency and does not investigate internet crime.
If you believe you are the victim of an internet crime, such as blackmail, extortion, harassment, fraud, identity theft, mail reshipping scam, personal assistant scam, or a work-from-home scam, you should report the crime to a law-enforcement agency in your community. WKU students and employees may report the crime to the WKU Police Department. If necessary, the WKU Police Department can contact the IT Division directly to obtain evidence or additional information that may be required for their investigation.
You may also file a complaint online with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crime Complaint Center.
