Enrolling with Duo

Issue/Question

How do I enroll my account with Duo?

Cause

To improve our cyber security, WKU is phasing in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for key IT services. Duo is the application WKU uses for MFA. All faculty and staff must enroll their account with Duo in order to access various WKU systems. Read more about implementing Duo.

Current Systems that use Duo MFA include:

Resolution

  1. Go here.
  2. Login with your NetID and password.
  3. Click Start setup.
  4. Select the type of device you are adding. We recommend that you use a mobile phone.
     Note: If you do not have a mobile phone, tablet, or a landline please contact the ITS Service Desk.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Type in your phone number or select which tablet type you are adding.
  7. Follow the instructions on screen. If you selected a mobile device or tablet you will be instructed to install Duo Mobile on your device.
      Note: Duo is not an email app or an app that needs to be installed on your computer. Using the Duo app is just one option for authenticating.
  8. If you had to install the Duo Mobile app follow the instructions for activating it on screen.
  9. Select when you want to be notified.
  10. Click Sign-in.
  11. You will receive a Congratulations message once enrolled. You are now ready to sign into Outlook Web Access after WKU ITS enables it.
     Note: You will have an option to save the device you are logging into for 30 days. For 30 days you will not have to use Duo with that device. Duo also does not need an internet connection to work from your mobile phone.
