Enabling Signatures for Adobe Reader

Issue/Question

How do I ensure that a PDF document can be signed by Adobe Acrobat Reader users?

Environment

• Adobe Acrobat Reader

Cause

If a PDF document is not Reader Extended, then only user of Adobe Acrobat Reader will be able to sign the document.

Resolution

1. Open the desired PDF document in Adobe Acrobat.
2. Click File.
3. Select Save As.
4. Select Reader Extended PDF.
5. Click Enable Additional Features.
6. Save the Reader Enabled document.
7. The newly saved document will be signable by users of Adobe Reader.
