Issue/Question

How do I add questions to a pool from an existing test?

Explanation

Instructors can use pools to store questions for later use. Questions created outside a of pool are not automatically stored in a pool, which limits their ability for reuse. It is however possible to add pre-existing questions to a pool.

Resolution

This article assumes that a new test pool has already been created; if you have not created the new pool, do so before following these instructions.

  1. Open your Blackboard Course Site.
  2. In the Course Management section, expand the Control Panel.
  3. Expand the Course Tools section, then click Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
  4. Click Pools.
  5. Click the Options button next to the pool you would like to add questions to, then click Edit.
  6. Click the Find Questions button on the toolbar.
  7. Click Tests. All tests within the course site should now be listed.
  8. Click the checkbox next to the test you want to pull questions from.  Questions should appear under Question Display.
  9. Click the checkbox next to the questions you want to save; if all questions need to be saved, click the checkbox at the top next to Question Text.
  10. Click Submit.
  11. You should now see the test pool populated with the test questions you selected.

Note: It is recommended to create a separate pool for every set of test questions (i.e. a pool for quiz 1, a pool for quiz 2). Failure to do so may cause issues is trying to add questions to a test from a pool via Random Block.
