Issue/Question
How do I connect my Google Home to WKU-WIRELESS?
Resolution
Due to the way that Google has designed the Google Home and Home Mini, iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads are unable to authenticate Google Home products on the WKU network. Android devices, however, do not generally have issues authenticating the devices on the WKU network and should be used to complete the following procedures due to the way that Google has made the application for Android devices.
Try connecting to WKU-WIRELESS and if that does not work try the steps below to obtain the MAC address and contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request.
If the device is linked to a Google Home application account and you are currently connected to the same wireless network as your Google Home:
- Open the Google Home app on your device.
- Tap Settings at the bottom left of the screen.
- Find and tap the device you wish to obtain the MAC address for.
- Tap Device Information .
- The MAC address will be listed under Technical Information.
If the device is not linked to a Google Home application account:
- Open the Google Home app on your device and plug in your Google Home.
- Once the device has fully turned on, it should appear as a device found in your Google Home app.
- Tap SET UP and follow the instructions until you reach the Connect To Wi-Fi step.
- Tap the three dots in upper-right corner, and select Show MAC Address.
- The MAC address will be listed here.
