Making an Assignment Available to Specific Students

Issue/Question

How do I reopen an assignment or assessment for specific student(s) so only they can see the link to take it?

Cause

One or more students missed the deadline to complete an assignment and the instructor wishes to allow those students to submit the assignment later.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the course.
  2. Ensure that Edit Mode is enabled.
  3. Navigate to the content area where the assignment link appears.
  4. Click the down arrow to the right of the assignment name.
  5. Select Adaptive Release: Advanced.
  6. Click Create Rule.
  7. Leave the Rule Name as is and click Submit.
  8. Put your mouse over Create Criteria and select Date.
  9. Enter the original date range for the assignment.
  10. Click Submit.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Create Rule.
  13. Leave the Rule Name as is and click Submit.
  14. Put your mouse over Create Criteria and select Date.
  15. Enter the new date range for the students for whom you wish to reopen the assignment.
  16. Click Submit.
  17. Put your mouse over Create Criteria and select Membership.
  18. Under Course Users, click Browse...
  19. Search for the desired student, or click Go to return a list of all students in the course site.
  20. Select the checkbox to the left of each student for whom you wish to reopen the assignment.
  21. Click Submit.
  22. Click Submit again.
  23. Click OK.
  24. Click OK again.
  25. Click the down arrow to the right of the assignment name.
  26. Select Edit.
  27. Scroll down to Availability.
  28. Remove the checkmarks for the original dates.
  29. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.
