Checking for ITS Service or System Outage

Summary

Information how to see if an ITS service or system may currently be down or having impaired functionality.

Body

Issue/Question

How can I determine if a WKU ITS service or system is down, impaired, or otherwise suffering an outage?

Environment

  • WKU ITS-Supported Software or System

Cause

Service disruptions occur for a variety of reasons.  When usability of a system is impacted for multiple users, ITS makes this information available.

Resolution

When ITS discovers or is informed of an outage, information is posted on Systems Status. Some systems are taken down for maintenance at regular intervals. These Scheduled Downtimes are posted on Systems Status as well.

  1. Browse to ITS - Systems Status.
  2. Under All Systems tab, look for system in question.
  3. Once located, look at symbol in Status column.
Note: The Status Key along right side indicates meaning.
  4. If a Status other than Normal appears, click the System Name for more details.
  5. If Status is Normal and you are experiencing issues, click Scheduled Downtimes tab.
  6. Ensure system is not currently in a scheduled maintenance downtime.

If Systems Status shows Normal status, and you are having issues with a system, it is possible the problem is either not widespread or not yet reported to ITS.  Please contact the ITS Service Desk to report your concern.  If outside ITS Service Desk operating hours, please submit a ticket through our Service Catalog
