Resolution

To properly troubleshoot a network printer, complete the following steps. After each step, attempt to test the network printer's functionality. If functionality is not restored, continue to the next step.

  1. Power cycle the printer.
  2. Check for bad print jobs
  3. Remove and re-add the printer.
  4. If your departmental printer has User Authentication enabled, verify you have the correct access code added for the printer.
  5. Check for OS updates.
  6. If the issue only occurs with one application/suite, check for software updates.
  7. Attempt to add the printer to a different machine to see if the issue is related to the printer or the computer.
  8. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request by clicking the Request Service button.
