Creating a New Outlook Profile

How do I create a new Outlook profile?

Environment

  • Microsoft Office
    • Outlook

Resolution

If you used local folders to store mail previously in Outlook, you will need to add these folders back in order to access / add additional messages to those folders. Please see this article for instructions on adding previously created local folders to Outlook. 
  1. If it is open, close Outlook.
  2. Click the Windows  button.
     Note: On Windows 10 you may also right-click the Start button.
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. At the top right, ensure View by: is set to Large icons or Small Icons.
  5. Select Mail.
  6. Click Show Profiles...
  7. Click Add...
  8. Enter a new Profile Name.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Proceed through the Auto Account Setup wizard.
  11. If prompted, authenticate with Duo
     Note: If you receive message Allow this website to configure server settings?, check Don't ask me again, click Allow.
  12. After the profile has been added, return to the Show Profiles... menu.
  13. From the dropdown, select the new profile you just created
  14. Click Apply to use this profile when opening Outlook. 
  15. Click OK.
  16. Open Outlook.
    Note: It may take some time to populate all emails / folders when Outlook first connects to the account.
