How do I set up Cisco Secure Client VPN?

Resolution
WKU employees have VPN access to network (P: and S:) drives and Banner systems. Follow
these instructions only if you need special access beyond these.
- Go to the Play Store.
- Search Cisco Secure Client.
- Tap Cisco Secure Client by Cisco Systems, Inc.
- Tap Install.
- Tap Accept.
- Open Cisco Secure Client app.
- Tap OK when asked to agree.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap
- Fill in the following information:
- Description:
VPN
- Server address:
wkuvpn.wku.edu
- Tap Done.
- Go to the App Store.
- Search Cisco Secure Client.
- Download the app.
- Open Cisco Secure Client app.
- Tap OK when asked if you want to enable the software.
- Tap Connections.
- Choose Add VPN Connection....
- Fill in the following information:
- Description:
VPN
- Server address:
wkuvpn.wku.edu
- Tap Save.
- A notification will appear asking if you'd liked to add the VPN configuration. Tap Allow.
- Navigate here from computer on which you will use Cisco VPN.
- Under Cisco Secure Client macOS, click Download.
- Save and open installation file.
- Note: You may have to allow the application to be installed from an unidentified developer. Please see this article for assistance.
- Click Continue.
- Click Continue again.
- Agree to the License Agreement.
- Click Continue.
- Click Install.
Note: You may be prompted to enter your macOS username and password.
- You will be prompted to allow AnyConnect VPN Service. Click Open System Settings.
- Click General.
- Click Login Items.
- Click to toggle on Cisco Secure Client - AnyConnect VPN Service.
- Click Modify Settings.
Note: You may be prompted to enter your macOS username and password.
- Once installed, click Close.
- From your Applications list, open the Cisco Secure Client app.
- Select your WKU Account in the next window.
- Click Next.
- Enter WKU Account password in Password field, if prompted and click Next.
- If prompted for Microsoft MFA, fill in two-digit code.
- From your Applications list, open the Self-Service app.
Note: If you do not have the Self-Service app, see this article to enroll your WKU-Owned Mac in our management system.
- Locate the Cisco Secure Client app.
- Click (Re)Install.
- After a few minutes, the app will appear in your Applications list.
- Continue to Configuring Cisco VPN below.
- In the box, fill in:
wkuvpn.wku.edu
- Click Connect.
- From your Applications list, open the Cisco Secure Client app.
- Select your WKU Account in the next window.
- Click Next.
- Enter WKU Account password in Password field, if prompted and click Next.
- If prompted for Microsoft MFA, fill in two-digit code.
- Navigate here from computer on which you will use Cisco VPN.
- For Windows, click Download.
- Save file.
- Open file.
- Click Next.
- Select I accept and click Next.
- Click Install.
- After installed, click Finish.
- Open Cisco Secure Client.
- In the box, fill in:
wkuvpn.wku.edu
- Click Connect.
- Select your WKU Account in the next window.
- Click Next.
- Enter WKU Account password in Password field, if prompted and click Next.
- If prompted for Microsoft MFA, fill in two-digit code.
Once connected to Cisco VPN you may use WKU services as if you were on campus. Should you need to connect to network drives (S:\, P:\, or U:\) please see this article.
