How do I test my computer's audio before a Zoom meeting?

Environment

  • Zoom
  • MacOS
  • Windows

Resolution

  1. Open Zoom Client and sign in.
  2. Join meeting using Meeting ID provided by host.
  3. In prompt window, click Test speaker and microphone.
  4. When speaker test begins, listen for ringtone.
    • If ringtone is not heard, use drop-down menu or select No to use a different speaker until ringtone is heard.
  5. Select Yes to continue to microphone test.
  6. Speak into microphone when prompted.
    • If replay is not heard, use drop-down menu or select No to select a different microphone until audio replay is heard.
  7. Select Yes when replay is heard.
  8. Select Join with Computer Audio.
  9. (Optional) Select Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting to enable this setting for future meetings.

Note: If you are on a Mac OS and are still having difficulty accessing your built-in mic, check your operating system permissions to confirm that Zoom has access to the mic
