How do I import or export my Blackboard Ultra course site?

This process is recommended when an instructor needs to copy content from a course in which they are not listed as an instructor, in which case both instructors will need to participate in the export/import process.

To copy content between courses in which you are instructor for both, please reference Copying Content Between Blackboard Courses. If you intend to co-teach a course with another instructor, please reference Modifying Instructor-Level Access to Blackboard Courses before proceeding.

Export Course Site

Open the Ultra course.
Navigate to Content tab.
Click directly next to next to .
Select Export Course Package.
Click .
When prompted, specify whether or not to include student activity data. This is not recommended if you're providing the export to another instructor.
Export will begin. You'll receive an email once the process completes.
Open the email notification from Blackboard.
Click Download.
Note: You may also access the course export package in Blackboard by reopening the Courses tab menu and selecting Export Course Package as in previous steps.
Click the export file name (i.e. ExportFile_COURSENAME.zip) to begin download.
If prompted, choose where to save your download.
Click Save.

Course Export packages are downloaded as compressed ZIP files which are imported/restored to Blackboard in the same format. Do not unzip a package or delete files from the package, or the contents can't be re-imported correctly.

Import Course Site

Open the Ultra course.
Navigate to Content tab.
Click directly next to next to .
Select Import Content.
Choose Import Course Content.
Select export file (i.e. ExportFile_COURSENAME.zip) from your device. If the export file was emailed to you from another instructor, you must download the export file first.
Note: The file package cannot be unzipped or have files deleted from the package, or the contents can't be re-imported correctly
Click Open. Depending on the volume of content, this process may take a few minutes.
You will receive an email once the process is complete.
