Prompting for Username and Password

Issue/Question

When opening Microsoft Outlook a pop-up box asks for my username and password.

or

Microsoft Outlook displays Needs Password in the connectivity status bar on the lower-right side of the window.

Cause

You be may asked to enter their password if it has been changed or after some types of routine server maintenance. You may also be asked to enter credentials if you are logged in using a different account than what matches the Exchange account on that computer.

Resolution

  1. In the first box, enter your full WKU email address
  2. Enter your NetID password in the second box.
  3. Check Remember my credentials.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Outlook.
  6. If the login prompt still persists please contact the ITS Service Desk.
