Changing Windows Laptop Lid Close Sleep / Hibernation Settings

Issue/Question

I want to use an external monitor with my laptop, but it goes to sleep when closing the lid.

Environment

  • Windows

Resolution

  1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
  2. Select Small Icons from View By select box.
  3. Click Power Options.
  4. Click Choose what closing the lid does from menu on left.
  5. Choose Do nothing in each select box next to When I close the lid:.
