Issue/Question
Why does it cost $50 to download SPSS through the Software Center?
Environment
- SPSS
- Faculty/Staff/Student Licenses
Cause
On July 1, 2016, the ITS Unit began charging a $50 cost recovery fee for downloads of SPSS from the WKU Software Center. We will continue to pay for SPSS to be available in labs and classrooms. The $50 charge only affects those purchasing the software for their own office or personal computers.
Note: The $50 SPSS license fee is a per-device fee. The installation of SPSS on multiple devices will require a new license for each machine. For example, if you would like to install SPSS on a laptop and desktop, you will have to purchase the SPSS license twice.
Resolution
To obtain a copy of SPSS if you are a faculty or staff member, please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request. Additionally, you may also consider using a computer in a classroom or Student Technology Center where it is available for free.
To obtain a copy as a student, you will need to complete the purchase using a personal credit card from the WKU Software Center located here.
