Removing Name from Tracked Changes in a Document

Issue/Question

How do I remove my name from changes I make in a Word document?

Environment

  • Microsoft Office 2016 (Windows)
    • Microsoft Word

Resolution

  1. Open the document and click File, then Info.
  2. Click Check for Issues.
  3. On the drop down list select Inspect Document
  4. In the Document Inspector dialog box, make sure only Document Properties and Personal Information is checked.
  5. Click Inspect.
  6. If any information is found in the document, select Remove All
  7. Click Close.
     Note: This can take a few seconds to load. Your name should now be replaced with "Author".
