My iPad / iPhone needs to be restarted/rebooted. How do I do this?

Restarting and iPad / iPhone with a Home Button
- Press and hold the power button for a few seconds.
- Wait until you see Slide to Power Off appear on your screen.
- Swipe to slide the Power Off slider.
- Wait a few seconds for the device to fully power off.
- Press the power button again and wait for your device to turn on.
- You will have to enter your passcode at start up, even if you usually use a fingerprint ID.
Note: If the device is unresponsive and you cannot get it to power off in this manner, you may need to perform a hard reset. To perform a hard reset, follow these instructions:
- Hold down the home button as well as the power button.
- Keep both buttons held until the Apple logo appears.
- Let go of the buttons and wait while your device completes it's start up sequence.
- You will have to enter your passcode at start up, even if you usually use a fingerprint ID.

- Press and hold the power button and one of the volume buttons for a few seconds.
- Wait until you see Slide to Power Off appear on your screen.
- Swipe to slide the Power Off slider.
- Wait a few seconds for the device to fully power off.
- Press the power button again and wait for your device to turn on.
- You will have to enter your passcode at start up, even if you usually use Face ID.
