Install Printer With Driver From Disk

How can I add a Windows printer using a specific driver provided on the manufacturer's website or on an installation CD?

Resolution

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Devices and Printers.
  3. Click Add Printer.
  4. Click Add a local printer.
  5. Choose the correct printer port. If adding a network printer by IP address or hostname, it may be necessary to create a new TCP/IP port.
  6. Click the Have Disk button.
  7. Click Browse and find the driver .inf file in the package downloaded from the website or the installation disk.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Open.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Choose the correct driver, as the file you selected may contain drivers for multiple printer models.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Name the printer as desired, then click Next.
  14. Choose Do not share this printer, then click Next.
  15. Print a Test Page to verify the installation was successful, then click Finish.
