How do I reset Outlook's new folder default view?
Environment
Cause
When making a new folder in Outlook, the default view for Outlook does not apply to the folder. The views in Outlook will need to be reset.
Resolution
This process will reset any and all custom views or view settings in Outlook to default. Custom views / view settings will have to be reconfigured after this process.
- If Outlook is open, close the program completely.
- Click the Windows button in the lower left corner.
- Type
Run.
- Press Enter.
- Type the following command:
outlook.exe /cleanviews
- Press Enter.
- Create a new folder in Outlook and the new view should be the default view for Outlook.
