Checking for Recording Devices

Issue/Question

How do I check to see if the computer I am using has a built in microphone?

Environment

• Windows 7+

Resolution

1. Right click the Volume Icon.
2. Click Recording devices.
3. Check to see if any device is labeled as Microphone.
   1. Microphone device listed:
      1. If the device says Not plugged in then an external microphone is needed.
      2. If the device says Disabled, right click the device and click Enable.
   2. Microphone device not listed:
      1. Right click white space and click Show Disabled Devices.
         1. If Microphone device appears then follow steps for device listed.
