Receiving Not a Valid Professor Error

Why do I get the following Banner error when adding an Instructor of Record?

Not a Valid Professor

Resolution

Each new faculty must be activated for schedule preparation.  Please contact the ITS Service Desk or submit a service request by clicking the Request Service button.
