Using the Locked Print Function on Ricoh MPS Devices

Issue/Question

How do I use the Locked Print feature on my Ricoh MPS printer?

Environment

  • Ricoh MPS Printer
    • Windows 11

Cause

If you need a printer to hold a sensitive document until you are physically at the printer, you can create a Locked Print job.

Resolution

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Bluetooth & devices.
  4. Click Printers & scanners.
  5. Click name of printer that you would like to set up Locked Print on.
  6. Click Printing preferences.
  7. Under Basic tab, click Modify in Job Type section.
  8. In Job Type dropdown, select Locked Print.
  9. Under User ID select Create Own ID, input your desired ID in Enter User ID Box. (Up to 8 alphanumeric characters.)
  10. In Password field, input your desired password. (4 to 8 numeric characters.)
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Apply.
  13. Click OK.

To Print

  1. Print document to desired printer.
  2. On printer's control panel, press Printer key to display printer screen.
  3. Tap Print Jobs.
  4. Tap Locked Print Job List. A list of print files stored in the printer appears. User IDDate / Time and File Name also appear. Depending on security settings, certain print jobs may not be displayed.
  5. Select file you want to print by tapping it.
  6. Tap Print. Password screen appears.
  7. Enter password using number keys, and press OK. A confirmation screen appears. (A confirmation screen will also appear if the password is entered incorrectly, prompting for it to be re-entered.)
  8. Tap Exit to enter password again. When multiple print files are selected, the machine prints only files that correspond to entered password. Number of files is displayed on confirmation screen.
  9. Tap Yes. Locked file will print.
