Accessibility Features in Microsoft Products

Issue/Question

How do I enable accessibility features in Microsoft 365 products on my Windows device?

Environment

Cause

Users may require assistive technology features to interact effectively with Microsoft products due to visual, auditory, or physical impairments.

Resolution

  1. Enable and use Microsoft Narrator screen reader:
    1. Press Windows + Ctrl + Enter to start or stop Narrator.
    2. Familiarize yourself with Narrator commands found at Microsoft Narrator support page.
  2. Activate Dictation in Microsoft products:
    1. Open a Microsoft 365 application (e.g., Word).
    2. Place the cursor where text input is needed.
    3. Press Windows + H to launch the dictation toolbar.
    4. Speak clearly to have your speech converted to text.
  3. Use Accessibility Checker in Microsoft 365:
    1. Open Microsoft 365 document.
    2. Go to Review tab.
    3. Click Check Accessibility to identify and fix accessibility issues.
