Adding Members to Organizations

Issue/Question

How do I add someone to a Blackboard Organization?

Resolution

  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Select the Tools tab.
  3. Select the Organization Tools tab and login.
  4. Select the MEMBER(S) tab, then select Add Member(s)..
  5. Select the desired organization and click Next.
  6. You may upload a CSV file with the members' WKU ID Numbers. If you uploaded a CSV please go to step 9. If you did not upload a CSV please continue to the next steps.
Note: This must be CSV file in CSV format. Each member's WKU ID Number should be listed only one per line. If these restrictions are not met this upload will not work. If you uploaded a CSV with WKU ID Numbers, you will be asked to pick a role for each member.
  7. Enter how many people you are adding to the organization.
  8. Enter the WKU ID of each member.
Note: Follow these steps if you do not know the WKU ID number for the members:
    1. Select the Look Up button to search for the member's identification.
    2. Seach for the desired member by: WKU ID, First and Last Name, or email
    3. Make your selection then click Next.
  9. Select the appropriate role.*
  10. Click Next.
  11. At the next Blackboard update, the member will be added. Reference the related article Update Times for the specific update time.

  • Grader: Has limited access to the Control Panel.  Can post announcements and access everything in the Assessment section.  Cannot manage membership of the Organization.  Can participate in Discussions, but not manage them.
  • Participant: Has no Control Panel access.  Can access all areas of the Organization from the Participant view.
