Closing or Opening a Blackboard Course Site

Instructions for closing a Blackboard course or opening a course that was previously closed.

Issue/Question

I am trying to Open a Blackboard course site that was previously set to Closed, or I'm trying to Close a site so that students will not have access and the site will be locked such that no edits will be possible.

Environment

• Blackboard

Cause

A course instructor needs to Close a course (block student access to the site and lock the site so no edits can be performed) or Open a course (grant student access to a site that was previously Closed).

Resolution

The course instructor can Close or Open a course:

1. Navigate to the course in question.
2. Click Course Settings.
3. Click the toggle under Close Course.
