Issue/Question
I am a student worker using a WKU-owned computer. I cannot add a printer and am prompted for administrator credentials when I try to install software.
Environment
Cause
The machine has a Student Rollout assigned to it.
Resolution
If you need a printer added to a Student Worker computer please contact the ITS Service Desk.
Student Rollout limits what can be done on a computer.
- Using applications already installed on the computer, such as internet browsers and Word, Excel, etc., is permitted.
- Installing other applications, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro or Photoshop, require a faculty or staff supervisor's credentials.
- Printers must first be added by IT, but can then be used by anyone that logs into the computer.
To easily identify if a student rollout is active, an icon will appear on the desktop labeled as Student Rollout.
