Cannot Play Audio Files in PDF

Issue/Question

I have a PDF that contains audio files, but when I try to play them, nothing happens or the following error appears:

Adobe Windows built-in player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on this system

Environment

• Windows 7+
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader

Resolution

1. Open Adobe Reader.
2. In the toolbar, click Edit.
3. Select Preferences.
4. Select the Security (Enhanced) category on the left.
5. In the section Sandbox Protections, un-check Enable Protected Mode at Startup.
6. In the section Enhanced Security un-check Enable Enhanced Security.
7. Click OK.
8. Exit Adobe Reader.
9. Try to access the media again.
