The wireless connection that I have is unreliable or slow, what can I do?

Cause
There are several reasons why the network could be unreliable or slow, especially due to interference on the network.
Resolution
If you have a printer with wireless direct, please turn this feature off.
Note: An easy way to determine this is by looking at the available networks on your phone or laptop. If you can see your printer in the list of networks, then it is broadcasting a wireless network and interfering with your connection as well as your neighbors’ connections. If you need help with disabling this feature, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
Connection issues can also be caused by the presence of interfering devices in your area. Check your room for these devices and unplug them from power when they are not in use:
- Roku Devices
- Amazon Fire TV devices
- Select PS4 wireless headsets
- Xbox Bluetooth accessories
For stationary devices such as game consoles, computers, and Smart TVs it is best to connect them to the network via an Ethernet cable. This will provide a faster and more reliable connection.
